olyclimber Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 MOUNTAINEERING HISTORIAN TO PRESENT “WAYS TO THE SKY” Author, climber and photographer Andy Selters will be presenting a multi-media digital show on the history of climbing mountains in North America. The show stems from his 2004 book, Ways to the Sky, which won top honors at the Banff Mountain Book Festival and the National Outdoor Book Awards. With images of historical climbs from every decade and from peaks from all over the continent, Selters' hour-long presentation charts the progression of mountaineering and its basis in our culture. Music from each period adds to the sense of historical progression. He will also be available to sign copies of his book. Andy has been a climbing guide, author and photographer for over 20 years, and he has pioneered new routes in the Karakoram, Himalaya and Andes. His diverse adventures have also included crossing Tibet by mountain bike, and leading cultural/fund raising treks in Ladakh. His previous books include The Mt. Shasta Book, and Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue. For more information you can contact Andy at info@andyselters.com Andy will also be giving this show at Western Washington University, Bellingham at 7pm on December 1st.
