cj001f Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Somethings never change "You just don't get it. We represent Corporate America. You represent labor. We are always going to be adversaries." - Boeing Human Resources Vice-President Jerry Calhoun http://yahoo.businessweek.com/magazine/content/05_39/b3952115.htm Quote
mec Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 do you think he knows how stupid he sounds? Quote
mec Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 there have been many corporations that the management actually gets along with the employees, and they work together (i.e Southwest Airlines). Novel concept, eh? Attitudes like that just increase the riff. After the engineers at Boeing went on strike a few years back, Boeing management got back at them. When they started working again, the management slowly worked to make sure that they could deliver planes without engineers, taking much of the engineers negotiating power away. before the strike, engineers needed to sign off many requests to get an airplane out the door. Now, management has the authority to step in when engineering is not around... Quote
cj001f Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Why worry - in a few years Boeing will have outsourced all the work to Asian suppliers (look at the 787 list for a preview) so they won't have to deal with labor. They can just manage and market. I'm sure the Japanese and Chinese are too stupid to figure out how to sell an airplane Quote
