chelle Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 What I heard... Shut down because of failure to pay taxes, 3-4 years ago maybe. Much of the stuff was sold off a couple summers ago. The tavern itself was for sale for awhile. No idea what the status is. Quote

I have consumed approximately enough beer in the Index tavern over the years to float a destroyer. Great place. Damn shame it closed. Â It is still for sale, albeit at a pretty steep price. It would take a bit of doing to get it back open. Quote

"hey you race traitor, i've got a pistol in my truck.....blah blah fucking blah." and the county sheriff teams dressed all in black occasionally swept through the place. overall though, most folks were live and let live and it was a great place to get piss drunk.
