deskjockie Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 My son and I are heading down to Shasta to try the Hotlum-Bolam ridge route Sunday and Monday July 24-25. I understand that there is water running at the high camp (~10,000). Does anyone have information on the condition of the Hotum Glacier bergschrund and the glacier above it? Thanks. Quote
chris Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Give Shasta Mountain Guides a call - they're happy to report route conditions. Quote
OlegV Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 I climbed HB last July. It was all ice. Substantial rockfall. Make sure you do an early start! Quote
Poser Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Was down there a couple of weeks ago on the Hotlum. Cracks were opening, but small and easy to negotiate. They had a huge snow season, so no ice as of a 2 weeks ago. Shasta Mountain Guides are great for route conditions, as well as, the local rangers. Quote
