Just got back from a climate science conference. Some pretty cool stuff going on but one of the things that stood out (amongst several) was that if we fixed future CO2 emissions at year 2000 levels, the atmospheric temperature will stabilize this century but, because of the thermal mass of the oceans, sea level will continue to rise for at least a few hundred years as the ice sheets continue to melt. Some worst case scenarios show no arctic ice sheet by the end of the century.

 

Also of note was that, despite protestations to the contrary by some in the 'real' world, there is a lot of conscious and purposeful avoidance of anything that looks like scientists pushing policy agendas.
