To those who have hiked along Bridge Creek all the way to the highway at Rainy Pass, how easy would it be to connect to the highway at its southernmost point, and avoid the last 2.1 miles of trail all the way to the Rainy Pass parking lot. It's been several years since i've been North of Fireweed Camp on this trail, but the greentrails map makes it look like a logical shortcut, as the road and trail run parallel for the last two miles.

It would be a piece of cake and I'm surprised more people don't do it. Hell, there used to be a trail junction there for a trail going NE up State Creek to Washington Pass. This trail would have (maybe it still exists) taken yout right up to the highway, which must cut across the south slope of Whistler about 4,600 ft through there. Map.

um, the pct south trailhead off of sr-20 IS at bridge creek. i assume that the only people who use the trail from bridge creek to rainy pass are PCT through hikers who don't want to walk on the highway shoulder

yeah ive wondered about that same thing both times out to goode. but it seems after tromping through the woods only to walk/ hitch on the highway for the remaining mile didnt seem worth it even if you did park your car off the hwy. really, if your coming from bridge creek whats another mile or two? tongue.gif
