jordop Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 On my last visit to friends on Pender Island in the BC Gulf Islands I noticed some boulders lurking in the woods right off the road. Went back to investigate this past weekend. Holy shit! A rough estimate would put the collection at about 30 boulders 10-15 feet high, all pretty good quality conglomerate cobbles, little moss or dirt since it is so dry on the Gulf Islands. (Note, I did not have a beanie with me, but with the no-shirt/rolled up jeans I figured I at least had 2/3 of the uniform ) Nice arete deal: After a five minute hike up the hillside we found a cool cave littered with bones. Lines on the face of the cave were too much for us, V6+, but there was a cool traverse along the left hand lip: Large potential for some hard pebble pinching here, if you go out for that sort of thing (which I normally don't ) All in all, not a shitty way to spend a day that was pretty shitty elsewhere Quote
