rhyang Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 We were there last w/e as well. Started both days early and went up the BH, followed by the main wall. Sunday watched some dudes going up the pillar on the right of the main wall while belaying. What were you folks climbing ? Quote
treknclime Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 What the best guidebook for the area, and a source?? Quote
Crack Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 there is a post on asscensionist.com from "lambone" that will direct you to some great links/sites, which also have up to date pictures...one of those sites has a well put together guidebook for ice climbing in california (including alpine routes), which costs a few dollars. if you are just going to lee vining, you don't need one -it's all 'right there', plain and simple...choose a line and go, go, go! icezazz Posted March 2, 2005 Author Posted March 2, 2005 Trek, Crack is right, there is no guidebook needed, just find your way to Lee Vining and then head west on 120 to poole power plant road (4X4) and the trailhead is at the end of the road. Try surfing to Nidever guides website it is the best beta. Or better yet, come along on the 11th, i am going for the weekend. BTW - Rhyang that was "Heel and Toe" on the right side of the main wall.
