I went to the Best of the Telluride Mountain Film Festival last night that was a fund raiser for Ski-for-All, a program to get disabled folks out in the snow in the winter and other activities in the summer.

Only two of the eight films were decent, one about climbing and base jumping in Mali and another on John Muir's unsupported crossing of Australia on foot. Similar to the Banff films, there seems to be a diminishing focus on anything about climbing or even mountain sports. There was the requisite film of folks on downhill gear doing hot tricks to cool music. Boring.

Seems that 10-12 years ago the Banff films had some great stuff, some by amateur folks on some interesting adventures. The occassional kayaking and sailing adventure is fine but why is a film on guys playing basketball while they drive across the US allowed in a mountain film festival anyway?
