whoohoonickieclimbs Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I'm on the Ski Patrol and we are offered courses for avalanche training-search and rescue(which I've taken I), however these 'awareness' clinics, are they pretty basic? The 'Dealing with Bad Layers' looks interesting! Am I just coffee resistant and not reading that correctly? I typically travel over there for business and want to attend one, but want to make sure it would be something I could learn from as well.
whoohoonickieclimbs Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Haa I must be loosing it and new to this because this from 2004 now I feel VERY BLONDE!
powdery Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 (edited) whoohoo, the latest schedule is this year's, the original was for last. f you've taken a course already, I would hope that the AA clinic would seem basic. It is quite practical. The advanced clinic is definitely not basic, but it has information most backcountry folks would ultimately need to be aware of. This clinic brings recent studies to bear on one's perception of stability. Edited November 21, 2005 by powdery
whoohoonickieclimbs Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Thank you! I try to find educational things while I am away from home to attend - instead of the hotel lounge. The advanced clinic sounds great! I see the schedule was posted. I am in need of sleep......I have to be up on a plane 5am tomorrow and am no where near ready to investigate! UGH! Probably should turn my laptop off while I'm writing my notes! Thanks again!
