colt45 Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Climb: Kyes Peak-south ridge Date of Climb: 7/17/2004 Trip Report: The views are awesome, but the ridge has several sections where I had to scramble around on loose scree. The summit block scramble is sort of scary, and downclimbing it is really scary! Then again, I'm an alpine gumby. Here are some photos: http://students.washington.edu/mwschmit/kyes/ Gear Notes: ice axe & crampons Approach Notes: No snow until nearing the summit. Quote
klenke Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 In that photo of tracks in the snow, they are obviously goat tracks. You can see the dual hoof marks. Nice photo-TR though. Quote
colt45 Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Good point!...the TR has been updated accordingly. Quote
lunger Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 good tr, that's a fun outing. for repeats, consider the blanca lake/columbia glacier route; we ascended that way and descended your route, and i preferred the former. scenic country and peak! Quote
