Probably the single best purchase you can make if you are serious about progressing is a...(flame suit on, because of all of the old crusty types here)...Gym membership... learn how to set up am anchor and get some runners and bieners for that.... I would suggest finding a place you can easily top rope. We are lucky enough here to have just that kind of crag. I can go walk up set up and be climbing 15 minutes out of my door. the most important thing you can "get" is 'MILES ON THE ROCK' gear and stuff can be borrowed and more than likely any one you climb with has whatever you will need for a trip, until you start teaching other people or climbing big walls. so don't rush and break the bank.
