flatnose Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I'm in the market for a 2 man single wall tent and have been comparing different brands. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with SW tents in more extreme settings (Alaska, S. America, etc.) and how they hold up in high winds and bad weather. Also what model (single or double wall) and features you find useful. Any input would be helpful. Quote
lost_arrow Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 i used one a few years back in s america for a few months. three trips with one. cant remember the style or name / two person. three poles? i was always scared that we would rip a huge hole in it - the fabric is super thin. i know thats the point due to the weight. but i was never that comfertable with it in the bigger storms. and shovelling it out in the middle of the night. top_op Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 these are my thoughts I have used my 2R for the last 5 years >this tent is true light-under 3 lbs >sets up in nano seconds >strong winds tend to hold the tent to the ground=good >have windows on both sides >well made and good guarantee >expensive >2R is the double wall and breathes well >comes unsealed >front guidelines are adjustable fom inside >large built in veatibule >thats all Quote
erewhon Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Try looking at Hilleberg Nallo 2 about the same only a little more functional for expeditions, and still weighs in at less than 4lbs. Looooove that bergy! Quote
