Thanks Tim, nice to have some questions answered finally. That's an eyeopener, as that area was searched very heavily by air and ground.

yeah the choppers said they searched the scree slope with 98% probability of finding him. I wonder though if he might have been higher up, and brought down with an avalanche since he was found at the deposit zone of that slope.

 

i guess we'll never know though.

That 98% POD reported by the 304th raised a lot of eyebrows in that search. 98% from a helicopter is awfully high, especially for a black-jacketed unresponsive subject. They can get right up next to the hill, but come on, that's pretty damn confident to be reporting that probability. Dunno for sure, I wasn't up in the chopper, I was busy wrestling manzanita up some creek drainage on that one.
