Just some random facts I cut and pasted. Numbers in parens are ADA scores.

"Each year, ADA's Legislative Committee selects 20 votes it considers the most important during that session. ADA's National Board and/or National Executive Committee approves those votes. Each member recieves 5 points if he/she voted with ADA, and does not receive 5 points if he/she voted against us or was absent. The total possible is 100."

Kerry ADA Lifetime Rating: 92

http://www.adaction.org/Campaign2004/MeetTheCandidates/Kerry/kerry.html

http://www.adaction.org/Campaign2004/VotingHistory/votinghistory.html

Kennedy (90) and Kerry (92) MA.

Leahy ADA lifetime rating: 93

Reps. Frank (99) and Markey (94). Mass.

Reps. Baird (95). Inslee (100) and McDermott (89) all from WA.

Sen. Wyden from Or (93)

Sen. Murray from Wa (92)

No Kerry on this "ADA Heros" list (Heros have score of 100):

http://www.adaction.org/2003vrstats.htm

In 2002, Kerry's rating is 85, while several Senators rate 100 (Kennedy, Mikulski, Sarbanes, Wellstone, Corzine, Reed)

Moderate is defined as 40-60. Kerry is not a moderate by these definitions, but also not the most liberal Senator out there.

Check your facts, kids.

Thanks assmonkey. It's nice to actually see what the guy has voted for and against! I did my best to take a random sampling of 12 of the votes (it's a long list) in question where Kerry scored a + . Here's my interpretation of the results 1-by-1.

Kerry is

for reproductive rights of women

for oil companies being liable for the damages from their oil-spills

for federal minimum wage increases

for mandatory maternity/family leave requirements for all but small-businesses

for spending a budget excess on social programs vs more tax-cuts

for the regulation of gun sales at gun sales

for closing special-interest tax loopholes

for allowing the poor to present legal challenges against welfare reform

against continued funding of SDI/missile defense programs

against line-item veto power for the president

against continued funding of the B-2 bomber program

Or in summary Kerry seems to help the lower and middle class while asking that corporations pay their share of taxes and be liable for their actions. Throw in some ideas like limiting unneccesary defense spending (what would we do without B-2 bombers!) along with background checks on gun sales, limiting presidential powers and being pro-choice and I see what Assmonkey means.
