We're planning on doing a carryover via the Tahoma and Emmons starting Tuesday (6/29). I've read recent accounts (last week) of groups getting turned around by the soft snow. Being that the current weather forecast shows freezing levels between 12,500 and 13,000, I'm a bit concerned about the route conditions. Has anyone been up there more recently than last week? If not, what are people's thoughts concerning that route in high temperatures? I'd also love some beta on the 11,000 foot camp on the glacier. Would really appreciate some feedback. If the route isn't going to be good, we're going to head somewhere that we can actually make.

I climbed Little Tahoma yesterday, 6/27/04. No evidence of recent traffic to the top, but conditions were great all the way - it's a fine time to go! It was hot on the glaciers, but no postholing - perfect for plungstepping the way down.

Pandora is correct! However, we just called off the trip due to the warm weather. We were all in agreement that the high freezing levels were likely to lead to much post holing and more objective danger on the route. Damn, how can the weather be too nice?
