wormfighter6 Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Climb: MT Hood-Hogs Back Date of Climb: 6/15/2004 Trip Report: Trip Report: I'll add the pictures tommrow. Sat afternnon we left the lodge with the intent to get to Illum saddle. When we arrived at the lodge after a few detours we started our assent. MT Hood was shrouded in clouds for most of our assent. As we contined to assend the weather continued to worsen. Because of the weather we decided to stary at 8000 ft behind a nice wall of rocks. We spend the next hour and a half diggig our tent shelter. The weather continued to get worse as we dug. By the time the tajamahl (SP) of trenches was finished it was a full gale, with sleet, frozen rain, and snow comming down. After reviwing some rescue techniques in the tent we retired for the night. The plan was to get up at 2 and check the weather if it was nice go, it was not stay. After getting the frozen zipper to the fly open I was blasted with snow and sleet. Decided against a summit attempt. The snow up to 8000 was very soft did some postholing on the way down. I wish I had more info to give currious if anyone was above 8000, if so, did you "break through" the weather. Approach Notes: Snow was very soft during the day -------------------- Mark W Approach Notes: SOFT SNOW Quote
Ursa_Eagle Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 So did you actually climb? It says you climbed today, but there's no mention of it in your TR. Quote

Ursa_Eagle Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 yes, but the date of climb according to the header at the top of your post is June 15, which is a Tuesday, and you mentioned bailing on the climb on Sunday. At this point I'm assuming that you just had trouble with the TR system. Quote
