CraigA Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 I'm heading to Hawaii next week... (long overdue vacation). Anywho, we're going to O'ahu and I was wondering if anyone knows of any MUST-DO hiking trails. I'm looking for great views and a little seclusion would be nice. I've been researching what I can but first-hand info is generally the best. Difficulty doesn't matter but I'd like to keep them to day hikes (I'm not taking overnight gear). I'm also not opposed to a long day of hiking so distance isn't important either, as long as it's possible for one day. If you've been there and done a hike that you would absolutely do again please let me know. Thanks (and aloha), Craig Quote
Dennis_Harmon Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 CraigA, As I recall there's an active volcano on the island of O'ahu called Alowa Wana Kuleua. A couple Russian scientists a few years ago rode a solidified chunk of magma down a lava stream course there so they could get accurate temperature measurements. I wouldn't suggest you do anything like that, but being an amateur volcanologist, of sorts, I would appreciate it if you would venture out on to the newly formed crust and return to me a fresh sample of molten magma. I only need a cup. Thanks. Dennis Quote
