BreezyD Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Hi everyone! I am new to this board so take it easy on me. I am heading up with a team of 7 to Baker this weekend in an attempt to summit via the Coleman/Deming route. Has anyone been up there in the last few days that can shed some light on the conditions up there? Thanks! Quote
Dru Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 i can see it from my window it was sunny tuesday been taking a hammering since then. expect soft slop and maybe some freshiez above 8000' Quote
ashw_justin Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Yeah don't expect it to be easy, but with 7 of you it should be pretty easy to set a bootpack. Quote
ashw_justin Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Dangit Paul would you stop telling people to ski Baker! That's crazy, man! You have a 1 in 40 chance of spontaneously exploding. Quote
dmuja Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Carry snowshoes MSR without the tails, you'll be glad you did - if you get to say 9,000 feet and find your self out of gas from post-holing because you wanted to save the weight , you'll be pissed. Poles too. Doug Quote
BreezyD Posted June 12, 2004 Author Posted June 12, 2004 Thanks everyone! The forecast from NOAA unfortunately looks pretty dismal but we will have snowshoes, poles, etc. If I get really courageous on this board, I will post a trip report ... Thanks again! Quote
