10dance Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I'm flying out from Colorado on the 11th and was planning to climb Rainier via Emmons starting the 13th (Sunday). I realize this is still over a week away - so who knows what the weather will do, but with all the recent crazy weather, the high avalanche danger, and the accidents out there, I'm trying to figure out what the conditions are likely to be and if we should make other plans rather than climbing Rainier. Any thoughts or comments on recent conditions would be great! -Allison Quote
sobo Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 What route? It does make a difference... Oh, BTW, have you seen this thread? Quote
sobo Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 DOH! Zero points for reading comprehension! 10dance: It'll be fine. Trust me. Know your glacier navigation and crevasse extraction skills. Do you care if the weather sucks, or not? Quote
10dance Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 (edited) yep - Emmons weather isn't so much an issue unless there's a white-out. I'm wondering a bit about avy conditions though... and yes - saw the thread on the current accident/rescue... Actually, it was some of the comments on that thread about conditions and such, combined w/ all the avy warnings last weekend that led me to finally ask for some opinions from all ya locals ;-) Edited June 3, 2004 by 10dance Quote
