Mt adams south spur route

To start from cold springs campground, is the route up the south side easily recognized, i.e. trail head markers? If not where the best place to get a good map?

Also, on rainier, how safe is it to travel now up to Muir, un roped?

It's usually "safe" to travel up to Muir unroped all year. Crevasses might open up late season, but you can usually avoid them by sight.

Trail up Adam's is marked well on the south side. As the trail begins to fade or on snow look for cairns which mark the way. I doubt the road to Cold Springs is open yet. Probably will be mid July, check with rangers.
