scott_harpell Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 You have that right. My cat, however, has never, however, been out of my control, tried to bite someone, been out of my control, bitten someone a minute later, and then subesequently been characterized as a "great pet" shortly thereafter. As my mom says, "dogs are the new guns." My dog has never bitten anyone either... my parents' cat though has... Quote
mothboy88 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I've been told that the average cat bite is worse than dog bites most of the time. Not because a dogs mouth is cleaner, but because they tend to tear the tissue more. That supposedly makes it easier to irrigate the wound and decreases infection. But cat bites are like getting poked by syringes. The germs fester inside and sometimes abcess. Or so I was told when I was bitten by a cat a few years back. I got on antibiotics within 2 hours and I still got a wicked infection. The next day I had red tracks creeping up my arm. Had to take the next day off work so I sould elevate my arm all day. This of course only applies to the more typical single bite. I would much prefer a houscat attempting to tear my throat out than a mastiff. Quote
