willstrickland Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 A couple of years ago I was looking at buying property and solicited opinions here on towns. The replies were pretty helpful. For several reasons I never bought land (mainly because I missed the uber-deal on a 40acres/cabin with water in Bishop while rounding up the downpayment.) Now I'm looking at a purchase date of around Oct '06. Yes, I plan ahead. One criteria is the ability to purchase rentable properties in addition to my residence. Other crieteria include access to varied year round climbing, reasonable cost of living, and a moderate climate i.e. the dry side(compared to Fairbanks, it's all moderate though). If you were choosing between Ellensburg, the Methow Valley, Wenatchee, Leavenworth, or other...which and why? Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 (edited) Redmond, OR ooops forgot the why? Bend is obviously a boom town of sorts right now, but because of that, i think the land/house prices are a little inflated at the moment... so the best bargains are found just a short drive north... not as trendy or hip, but equally good access (sometimes better) than that hip happen town of Bend. United or Delta is going to be providing service into the Redmond airport within the year for direct flights from Denver and or Salt Lake... this will open up access to more direct flights from the east for additional influx of tourons (and their money) as well as providing a better flight option for businesses. T-Mobile recently opened up their latest call center in Redmond, and the city is bending over backwards (no pun on Bend) to get additional businesses to locate. Redmond is obviously closer to Smiff, still close cascade lks hwy, and closer to sisters/north sister access. Still have good brew pub, good climbing, shortage of wimmin , but all in all a good investment spot imho. Edited April 5, 2004 by timmy Quote
Wopper Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 E-burg - Due to that fine institution of higher learning there are always renters available. Though you are not in the heart of it you are half way between Icicle Creek and Tieton. Alpine Lakes Wilderness is also nearby. I take it your work allows you to live where ever you want. Quote
