Avery_Nelson Posted May 21, 2002 Posted May 21, 2002 Nice site, just found it! Heading out to Ranier soon, and was wondering if anyone suggest a good online resource for detailed route info on Ptarmigan Ridge -- in addition to Mike G's book? What I'm really looking for here is some info about the extent (I've read 5.8, but is it sustained, runout, only one move, 1 pitch, 8 pitches, etc.) of rock and ice on this route (for right now), avalanche potential this season on this route, and if the approaches to Ptarmigan or LR require any snowshoes at this point in time. Also, what does the standard rack consist of for this route? Any info would be greatly appreciated! -Avery Quote
Bronco Posted May 21, 2002 Posted May 21, 2002 It's not online, but, there is a more detailed version in Selected Climbs in the Cascades, Volume II by Jim Nelson and Peter Potterfield. But probably not as authoritative, in my gaper opinion. [ 05-21-2002, 04:09 PM: Message edited by: Bronco ] Quote
hikerwa Posted May 21, 2002 Posted May 21, 2002 Mike G. posts here quite often, so you might be able to get some more detail from him. Good luck, have a good climb, conditions should be very good right now. Quote
