jjd Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Any NorCal folks here see the Godsmack-Metallica show at Arco last night? They still "kick maximum ass." Quote
fenderfour Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 They still want to rock... Maybe if they had never met Bob Rock things would be dofferent. Quote
jjd Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 Maybe if they had never met Bob Rock things would be dofferent I don't know dude, I think the 15 million or so people who bought the black album might disagree. Besides, they still play their "old stuff" : blackened; one; harvester of sorrow; battery; master of puppets; sanitarium; hit the lights; and for whom the bell tolls are the ones I remember from last night. They still play a lot from Kill 'em All and Ride the Lightning, if that's your thing. Between the last 2 shows in SanFran they've played everything good from both. Anyway, I stood no more than 30 feet from the stage and from my vantage they Quote
fenderfour Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I don't remember the word "baby" being mentioned in any of the lyrics for their first four albums, but somehow, it's found in all of their old classics. Maybe they replaced Hetfield with a Country/Rockabilly singer? Quote
Greg_W Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Everything since the black album sucks "mainstream want radio play" ass. Quote
fenderfour Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I was going for a more delicate, reasoned approach, but Everything since the black album sucks "mainstream want radio play" ass. pretty much captures it. Quote
jjd Posted March 12, 2004 Author Posted March 12, 2004 Everything since the black album sucks "mainstream want radio play" ass. You aren't still pissed James cut his hair are you? I would agree that the quality of music on Load and Reload wasn't anywhere near as good as the Black album, but they still had a few good tracks. They get a lot of radio play of their old stuff as well. Does that mean all of that sucks ass too? I guess I don't get it, because I think they still put on one helluva show. I am pissed about the asshole that threw up on the back of my leg when they opened with Blackened. I also wonder about the woman who brought her 8-10 year old daughter down on the floor; she's my nomination for parent of the year. Quote
Greg_W Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 The energy is different after the black album. Sure, they're good performers, I'm not saying that. "St. Anger" blows goats. Quote
