Stonehead Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 DJ Danger Mouse remixed Jay-Z's "Black Album" with the Beatles "White Album" to create... The "Grey Album," of course. ...hailed as a innovative hip-hop triumph. Despite that and the fact that only 3,000 copies of the album are in circulation, EMI sent cease and desist letters yesterday to Danger Mouse and the handful of stores that were selling the album, demanding that the album be destroyed. ... which of course makes the Grey Album even more desirable as a collector's item, so now the whole album is available for download. ...has garnered critical acclaim in Rolling Stone (which called it "the ultimate remix record" and "an ingenious hip-hop record that sounds oddly ahead of its time"), the Boston Globe (which called it the "most creatively captivating" album of the year), and other major news outlets. So is the Grey Album any good? Hell yes! I've been listening to it for a few days, and it grows on me more and more with each listen. Take a listen to 'December 4' or '99 Problems'.
