Country_Jake Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 I want to know, or hear about your dislocations wile climbing... or jaming fingers.... what I really want to hear about is pain storys.... I once climbed a route, a crack mind you, using nothing but my thumbs for hand hold.... I would stick my thumb in the crack and dwedge it so hard that I could've hung from it.... anywho I probably only climbed the last 30 ft to the top like that, but by the time I got there I had to gride my thumbs back into position, so I could belay my body... needless to say my thumbs were swollen and useless the rest of the day... chelle Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 What I am wondering is was this your only option for climbing the route or an experiment with only using your thumbs? Quote
Country_Jake Posted April 16, 2002 Author Posted April 16, 2002 mainly I wanted to see just how tough my thumbs were... Quote
David_Parker Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 Was that climb thumbs up or thumbs down? Quote
bellemontagne Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 Climbing thumbs only on a route - that's pretty brutal. I dislocated my kneecap once when I was on Pop Goes the Nubbin. I fell off the start of the route, my partner let the slack out of the GriGri unexpectedly, then I torqued my patella out of the joint. I just wish I had a more epic story for a sh!tty injury. Oh, and then one time at bandcamp... [ 04-16-2002, 12:33 PM: Message edited by: bellemontagne ] Quote
