The only backcountry I have hit so far is Heather Ridge area want to get out and see some more. It was fun but would like to get on some more serious terrain. How about you? Quote

ken4ord Posted December 22, 2003 Author Posted December 22, 2003 Hey Dave, Â What would you be into hitting? Also is there a one day that is better than the other? Right now I have tenative plans to hit Crystal one day and then the other I want to be in the backcountry, but as which day I am doing what, that is still up in the air. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Areas will be crowded as hell. Any day works for me, location depends on conditions and how long you want to be out there. Quote
Beck Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 It looks like a good overnight winter weekend with some freshies, lots of sunshine... perfect for a bivy somewhere... Quote
ken4ord Posted December 23, 2003 Author Posted December 23, 2003 OK so far I tentative plans for heading down to Cyrstal on Sunday with my buddy. He has to check with his boss and see if that is ok with her since her mother's birthday is around then. So Saturday would be the day to hit something up. Any suggestions as to where to go? Quote

Beck Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 while, if you're going to Crystal there's the Snorting Elk? I'm sorry, is your question about Backcountry or skiing at a resort? Â but a good all day backcountry ski tour up by Crystal is to head up to Bear Gap, run the ridge south as far as you want, and drop back to the road in Bullion or Pickhandle basins or all the way back to Norse Peak and suchnot... if west slopes are bad, ski east slopes of cement basin or... Â have a nice ski! Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 ken a friend of mwne wants to go. PM me your # and I will call you Friday. Maybe something off the Smith Brook Road. Quote
