Fejas Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 "We kick step and wade through heaving gusts, focusing on the rounded boot holes others have left before us. Views of Banff National park's boundless limestone walls unfurl with each step. Two minutes later, we've achieved entry to Delirium Dive, locally known as 'the Dive.' A staggering number of skiable peaks swarm the view. To the left looms a run called Starbucks, a 45 degree showpiece. To the right, several sharp, steep, steely stairs leed to the less convoluted Galaxy chutes, which funnel into the main bowl below." "Today the posse opts for Starbucks. Dropping in off the 10-footer at the entrance, we glide through windbufff, hitting two small cliffs that further subdivide the line. Hanging to the left, hugging a huge band of cliffs, we purposefully cliff-out a 30footer. No one grapples to huck first, but once the first tracks are laid, we take turns hurling ourselves into the deep snow. Several plummets later, we hit the fast, single lane groomer back to the gondola to spin another lap." Jake Bogoch Check it out..... web page Quote
David_Parker Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 and to think the Borgeau climbs (L&R) are right across the parking lot..... We skiied Sunshine for free by skinning up an access road. Once up, they don't check tickets on the upper lifts. Quote
E-rock Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 I doubt these guys converted their cliff-drop estimates before spraying. 10 footer in TR = about a 4 or 5 footer in reality 30 footer in TR = about a 12-15 footer in reality A 30 foot cliff is HUGE, not by movie standards (it's average) but by mortals out skiing without the influence of kodachrome courage, a 30 footer is big air. He writes for powder magazine, and the pictur of them hucking the cliff makes me think it was pretty close to thirty feet.... But I agree 30footers are huge to us amitures.... Quote
