Gore would have been faced with a recession and loss of jobs, 911, Middle East, trade disputes with EU, etc.

 

Personally (and this is the view I had during Reagan admin, though I didn't necessarily agree with their actions), it doesn't matter so much how many scandals etc. occur during the admin. but what the admin can do in the time they're in power, in other words, how effective is the administration?

 

I want to see action, even if the opposite direction I'd like to see it move, because I know there's usually a self-correcting mechanism in the works. A swing to the right is nearly always followed by a swing to the left.
