iain
Traditionally climbed in spring, though you could climb it in winter and summer (if snow allows). Unfortunately it is prone to avalanche, particularly on warming days, or during heavy snowfall. A massive cornice develops all along the ne ridge of north sister, threatening most of the villard glacier as the sun comes out in the spring. Some rock climbing may be necessary on the glisan pinnacle. It is quite loose in places. It can be avoided by going wide right, where there is frequently connecting snow to the top of the pinnacle. Climbing prouty pinnacle from the ne side can be a little wild, esp when the snow patch starts melting out and you have to deal with the stacked choss. It is not difficult, just quite exposed. Might want to throw crampons on if you rap into the bowling alley on the way down. I have headed in there to find some spicy verglas downclimbing.
