The_North_Face Posted March 4, 2002 Share Posted March 4, 2002 Come meet Hilaree Nelson, skier and member of The North Face athlete team and hear about her experiences on the Mt. Waddington expedition. This expedition, filmed for a Warren Miller ski film, entailed summiting the technically challenging Mt. Waddington (13,177ft.), as well as successfully completing a ski descent from the summit. Her accomplishment made her the first female to ski descent the Northwest Summmit of Waddington and Combatant Couloir. Unlike most athletes in ski films, Hilaree didnt start out as a ski racer. Instead, she waited until her 20's to start competing. Slowly sponsorships followed and through companies like The North Face, she has been a part of several exploratory ski expeditions to places such as Russia, India, South America and North America. All along the way, she has claimed first ski descents, most recently in the Coastal Range of B.C. on Mt.Waddington's Northwest Summit, including Mt. Cotopaxi (19,347ft.)in Equador, the world's highest volcano, as well as Mt. Belukha (14,783ft.), Russia's highest peak.
