EV Posted February 28, 2002 Posted February 28, 2002 I need some info on haul bags. It would be used for 2-3 day excursions. Any suggestions? Thanks. Quote
Lambone Posted February 28, 2002 Posted February 28, 2002 I like the Metolious Half Dome. Its short and fat, making it easy to reach the bottom (Crucial when you last Jolly Rancher has fallen to the bottom of the bag), but still big enough for grade VI routes. Its got a descent harness, and has a lower center of gravity when on the back. That would be my suggestion, I am tottaly happy with mine. Quote
EV Posted February 28, 2002 Author Posted February 28, 2002 Lambone: Thanks for the reply. Have you, or anyone else, heard any things good, bad or indifferent about the Yates Fat Sac? Quote
erik Posted February 28, 2002 Posted February 28, 2002 ev i have a metloious el cap halu bag, seems to work great..... yates stuff tends to be well tought out but over built...and heavy.. though with most first gear purchases i tended to go with what was most cost effective Quote
EV Posted February 28, 2002 Author Posted February 28, 2002 Eric: Thanks. Good points. Plus the Yates bag is about $70 more. Thanks again. Quote
Lambone Posted February 28, 2002 Posted February 28, 2002 The Metolious Chief is a good cheaper bag, but the harness sucks, and I can't reach the bottom of it. That was funny eric, I didn't realize how that first post sounds if read out of context. You're so quick to pick up on such things... Quote
Jeff_Savoie Posted March 1, 2002 Posted March 1, 2002 My climbing partner has a brand new Chief for sale. Let me know if your interested. I think he's asking around $175. Jeff Quote
