I like the Metolious Half Dome. Its short and fat, making it easy to reach the bottom (Crucial when you last Jolly Rancher has fallen to the bottom of the bag), but still big enough for grade VI routes. Its got a descent harness, and has a lower center of gravity when on the back. That would be my suggestion, I am tottaly happy with mine.

Have you, or anyone else, heard any things good, bad or indifferent about the Yates Fat Sac?

ev i have a metloious el cap halu bag, seems to work great.....

yates stuff tends to be well tought out but over built...and heavy..

though with most first gear purchases i tended to go with what was most cost effective

The Metolious Chief is a good cheaper bag, but the harness sucks, and I can't reach the bottom of it.

That was funny eric, I didn't realize how that first post sounds if read out of context. You're so quick to pick up on such things...
