dryad Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 Need suggestions for any besides W.Butt of Blueberry Hill. I'm looking to go places to practice leading AND not bore my partner too badly. Thank you! Quote
Dru Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 what hard and what easy? snake is good with 3 5.6-5.7 and 3 5.9 Quote
Dru Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 SQUAMISH!!!! I should point out that the 5.6 "pitch" is usually soloed by everyone. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 I agree with Dru but would also add that I think Squamish has such a great variety of routes that going there would be the best choice. Are the Bluffs open? PP Quote
Dru Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 She said "multipitch" which pretty much eliminates the Smoke Bluffs!!! Quote
Peter_Puget Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 Nah you can always do the Connection or combine routes. But the question was actually not related to the suggestion to go to Squamish. Quote

Uncle_Tricky Posted September 14, 2003 Posted September 14, 2003 Careno Crag at Leavenworth would be perfect. There's a number of lines each of which has big ledge systems that allow you to pick easier or harder options for each pitch. There are a number of nice 5.7-8 cracks/corners that protect well and would be good for a beginning leader interspersed with 5.9-5.10 crack/face or mixed crack/face pitches. Quote
Pencil_Pusher Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Ditto with Castle Rock and Icycle Creek wall in Leavenworth. You could lead Castle Rock's Saber (5.5) to the ledge then your ropegun could tackle Canary (5.8) for the next pitch. R&D (5.6) on Icycle followed by that Cocaine Crack(I think that's the name, ~5.10) for ropegun. Quote
