cj001f Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Anyone been in there recently? If so - which side did you come in from South fork of the Hoh or Queets? Quote
bremerton_john Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 If not been in there, but I considered doing so. I've spoken to a few old timers who have and the South Fork of the Hoh is defintely the way to go. However, prepare yourself for a serious bushwacking saga. Quote
cj001f Posted September 30, 2003 Author Posted September 30, 2003 Thanks for the reply - I went Labor Day weekend. Approached via Queets river - long but not bad at all. With an extra day it would have been well within reach. Ended up getting to 3k on the creek before I turned back - the highpoint picture is in my gallery. I'd be interested in talking to the folks you mentioned and learning more - there's little written history on that area. Quote
bremerton_john Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 You're right. There isn't much info to be found on the Valhallas. I happen to be losely involved with the group from Olympic Mountain Rescue revising the climbing guide to the Olympics. A couple of those guys have a lot of the first ascents in the Olympics, including the Valhallas. I'll ask them if they'd be willing to provide their contact information for you if you wish. Quote
gabiot Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Little late response, but if you are still interrested in the subject, PM me Laurent. Quote
gabiot Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 I saw the picture you posted: was it taken up on the Kilkelly creek and is the visible peak Braggi? (the little col look like the one just east of Braggi. I remenber following a Mountain Goat up to that col, and looking down to see it go down in the direction you probably took the picture.). How much time from the trail head is the place where you took the picture? (a day and a half?) Laurent Quote
