Bob_Clarke Posted June 8, 2003 Share Posted June 8, 2003 Friday June 6 - 5 AM left the parking lot - pulled into Thumb Rock at 2 PM. Nice hike to St. Elmo's pass, the traverse was fun and easy. Grunt getting to Thumb Rock (a little crowded) Saturday June 7 - left Thumb Rock at 1:40 AM. Excellent route, sustained 40-50 degree snow. Incredible Views. - summit Liberty Cap at 7 AM. Seems like the conditions were premo, and concensus is the route will only last a few weeks. decided to go to Columbia Crest. - long "character building" hike to Mt Rainier's summit.
