bubblebutt Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 I am planning a June trip to Nabesna glacier in Wrangell-Saint Elias mountains for climbing on Atna & Rime peaks. Have latest book "Alsaka, A Climbing Guide" that gives info on peaks but has anybody in cc.com world got any first hand knowledge?? Quote
dkemp Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 I was planning to go in there this year - decided otherwise after getting bushplane costs from the pilot - $$!! Anyway, looks like a great neighborhood. Good luck! Dox Quote
bubblebutt Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 I've been trying to get bushplane prices all morning and have about four companies working on a quote for me so I haven't seen dollars yet. Prepare me for the sticker shock. How much did they quote you? Me and my partner are going and looking for a third climber for safey reasons. Sure youre not interested?? Quote
dkemp Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 I emailed with Paul Klaus of Ultima Thule - boy he is knowlegeable about the area. Here is what he emailed me on 12/05/02: "The price into Blackburn (nebesna glacier - dox) would be $550 per person and I could fly you with our Turbine Otter all in one load which makes it real nice for larger expeditions. No one gets stuck out because of weather!" He is referencing Blackburn because I wanted to climb the North Ridge - Atna and Rime were to be Plan B if Blackburn wouldn't go. Anyway, that was his price for flying in to the Nebesna Gl. Thanks for the invite! Would love to join but I have other plans now. We are spending half the amount to go to Kahiltna Glacier and do some peak bagging in there. Dox Quote
bubblebutt Posted April 15, 2003 Author Posted April 15, 2003 Thanks DOX, wow thats a lot of money, hopefully the other guys I called will be substanitally cheaper. I'll let you know what happens for your future reference. Good luck on the Kalhiltna. Are you going for one of the big three( Hunter, Foraker, Denali) or satellite peaks such as Francis and The Control Tower? Quote
dkemp Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 Nope, none of the big three. Crosson, Kahiltna Dome, Francis, Peak 12,200. Also considering Peters Dome but I dunno if time will allow that too. Should be a good ol' time Dox Quote
