plexus Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 Since rain has cancelled my plans for cragging at Mount Erie, guess I'll read about climbing instead of doing it. I remember the posts back in Sept. talking about hangers missing from Icicle. Was there any resolution as to what happened and who the culprit was? Last I remember was fingers pointing at the Reserve. On Sunday, went out there and there are hangers missing on three of the anchors on Clamshell Cave. The bolts are fine, just cinch up a couple of nuts (God that sounds bad). Just curious. Quote
mattp Posted October 17, 2001 Posted October 17, 2001 I raised some questions about them because there has been a history of some unfriendly law enforcement and some private property/access issues in the canyon. Prior posts on this thread concluded that the thefts were just that (theft), there was some discussion of this at the CC.Com megafest, and I've been talking in private to some Leavenworth locals about it. So far, I have heard nobody suggest there is any reason to think that the hangers should not be replaced. An anonymous donor, who doesn't want to be given credit (I suppose for fear that there might be some issue) has offered hangers. [This message has been edited by mattp (edited 10-16-2001).] Quote
kevin Posted October 17, 2001 Posted October 17, 2001 Just to add a bit more to the issue, I was at Minnehaha (crag area in Spokane) just a couple days after I first reasd about the hangers missing in icicle and found several chopped TR bolts that had been there a week before. According to a friend who had been there the previous weekend they were still in great shape and from what I could see of the chopped studs they were 3/8 in stainless in good rock. Is there a de-bolting conspiracy in WA?!?! Quote
nolanr Posted October 17, 2001 Posted October 17, 2001 I think you have to wear a swamie belt to really cinch your nuts up. Ugh, brings back unpleasant memories, never again. Quote
