Jonah D
Looking for a partner for the DC route on Rainer beginning on May 8th 2019, ill be flying into Seattle on the 7th of May 2019 from Germany. I’m an experienced mountaineer (Alps/Andes/Central Asia/Himalaya) with my own gear and knowledge of high altitude mountaineering practices. I know it’s early but I would like to begin planning far in advance to ensure a successful trip. Thanks! JasonG
1 hour ago, Jonah D said: to ensure a successful trip. Weather. It is always the weather (and it sounds like you might already know this). It is great to plan far in advance, but if the weather is bad on the upper mountain (i.e. ANY precip and wind) it is best to have a solid plan B (Stuart Range?) and save Rainier for another trip. It is no fun up there in a storm, and often dangerous. Early May is often unsettled. Or, it might be just fine. Good luck!
