  1. looking for a used pair of kids shoes in decent shape. My son wares a size 12 boys shoe or 30 in euro sizing. Would go a little bigger preferably.
  2. Climbed the direct version last weekend and was pretty psyched on the splitter hands. We had followed the corners below to the climber's right and set our belay twenty feet to the right of the fixed anchor in the above photo. From here we approached the obvious crack from the right passing a death block with a low hand traverse. Nice overhanging flake gets you into the crack which overhangs for ten feet or so. Really enjoyed the pitch. No bolts needed here. No regrets for not climbing the "classic" line. Fun route.
  3. " Soapbox Alert Climbers are basically the only user group to visit the cirque at CBR. Any garbage is ours. Any tape, piles of wood, campfires, and human waste is ours. Any rangers that visit the area go to police us. Lets keep this place pristine and set a great leave-no-trace precedent. I'd love to go up there is 20 years and have it look like it did 20 years ago." Did you come accross some garbage?
  4. Went up the approach gully on Sunday and found it to be loaded with loose rock- a sketchy place at best. Couln't locate the approach pitch though we were distracted by rockfall and 5th class rock in the gully. Bad idea, never again.. FYI Rangers are now monitoring the bivi- actually hiking the new trail to bust poachers. Took us 4 hrs to hike to the bivi with camping gear(just in case!)moving at a comfortable pace. Woke to rain on Monday so time to go to index where the are intermittant stairs and a granite wall to line up your junk show below Godzilla now. Snow can now be completly avoided at CBR. Mosqitos are relentless.
  5. Had great conditions July 1st. Snow at Glacier Meadows. Minimal cravasses on the Blue Glacier. Nice snow conditions all arround. We chose Crystal Pass. Once over the false summit we climbed the rap route which was low 5th class to reach the summit. All above a marine layer that lightly misted for both hiking in and out. Good times!
