  1. Does anyone have any recommendations for sport climbs near Index? I'm only familiar with the usual trad routes there. My partner is looking for clip-ups in the 5.9-5.11 range, anything like that exist around there? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

There is no need to endorse or perpetuate sport-climbs at crack-friendly Index. There are plenty of such climbs at Exit 38, Little Si, (off of I-90 out of North Bend) or other chossy monstrosities. Resist the clip-ups and keep it clean. That's the future.

Clean gear is history. Bolts, and the Boltomatic 2012 are the future. Embrace.

    please not another bolt thread!

  2. Little bit more thread drift but the slings on top of snag buttress could be replaced before they are to tight around the tree, dont want to hurt the good rap tree. Next time I am up there ill replace them but if anyone is up there before me it would be nice to see them replaced/loosened.

On a side note felt warm up there today in a t shirt. Main wall west was nice and dry.

  3. i dont have the quads right now should be out there some time next week so i can get them...the easiest way is to go to the top park walk down the road about 300' or so...there is a small parking area here about 3 cars can fit (you can also park here) follow the trails south and west down the mountain...you going to go under some powerlines along the way...you are close keep going west along the top of the cliff band and you should see some gullies down, they can be pretty steep but short...i know this is not the best description ill look at the gps and see if i can find something better...pick yourself up the print out book at the mt erie store its about 5 bucks and can be useful

  4. Trip: Mt. Erie - Powerline wall

    Date: 1/23/2011

    Trip Report:

Got out to Mt. Erie yesterday was a little damp and mossy, normally want a full day to dry things out but had to get out climbing. It was 50 and but felt warm and climbing was no problem. Just thought i would give an update.

    Approach Notes:

    Drive to top walk down

  5. Well you didn't actually think I would allow myself to not do something so exciting did you?

I would expect nothing less! heard rainbow falls and some millenium climbs are in. Should be cold next week. Pandome and also some stuff out at alpental was in a little before the last warm up, dont know now. Get after it Josh! Looking forward to pictures and an epic story like always!!!

  6. Was up around alpental falls today climbed around swung the tools never found anything that would take protection, found waterfalls and rock some ice but it needs more time...not recomended. Bryant Buttress might be doable in the next few days.

  7. Depends on how far your drive is...I wouldn't recommend hubba hubba punch bowl was fun but if its warm again bring your gore tex...

Climb on the left looks better in the picture than it really is Punch bowl is not bad at the top, first 10 feet was thin at best...

  8. Climbed Hubba Hubba on 12/21 wallowed through deep snow, first 15m was in pretty fat took some 16cm screws, rest of it was thin or not in. Ran it out to one of the trees on climbers left. Would say WI3 M4 if that gives you an idea. Also went over to Banks today Punch Bowl was pretty good up high...ill post some photos soon

  9. got up to pandome today it was in but lots of snow cover and it was warm today about 38 at 9 this morning. Was a nice day to get out even if there was a steady supply of sluff from the trees above. There was another group from Bellingham that was up there and topped out so they may have a better report than me i only climbed the bottom section.

Other group I forgot your names but i took a few pictures of you leading if you want them send me a PM.

  10. I am visiting for thanksgiving, it looks nice today. If it stays nice today will it be dry enough to climb tomorrow? If Index is dripping, think exit 32 will be dry enough?

    Eric

haha yes dry as a wet dog :)
