  1. I appreciate the advice from everyone who responded. I purchased the BD Venoms earlier this pm. Thanks!!!
  2. Thanks for the advice. What do you think of BD Venom standard length adze paired with BD Venom hammer 50cm?
  3. For routes requiring two tools (ex: Liberty Ridge, Forbidden Peak, Mt.Baker North Ridge) would you recommend 1 standard ice axe & 1 ice tool(hammer) or a matched pair of ice tools(adze&hammer)? Thanks
  4. If anyone happened to take any photos while in the Mazamas Chute this past Sunday, would you be so kind as to post a few on this site. We topped out at @11:45am but the camera battery died at bottom of chute!! Thanks
  5. :lmao:Thanks for the pics. As an Eastcoaster due there this Friday, it's nice to see the route as it has changed a bit since my last visit 3 yrs. ago. I, too, hope the guy who took the slide is doing well.
  6. If you happened to take any photos of the route after leaving the Hogsback, I would very much appreciate your time to post several of them.
  7. My friends Dad turned 81 several days ago. He did Denali with his son over 20 years ago. He has been on this quest since his early 50's and obviously did most of the harder ones early on. The reason for the high camp question was to make summit day a little easier for him but even so, at 81 he's in remarkably good condition. Our planned summit day is Sunday, June 14th. with Monday as an alternate second attempt. Wish us luck & good weather!! You can see several photos of our group on Hood several years ago at http://www.shellmontinn.blogspot.com. Scroll down page to 3rd. entry.
  8. Thanks to all who answered my question. FYI...I am assisting my best friend who is trying to get his Dad, age 81, to the summit of Hood. He has done all 50 State Highpoints except Hood, Gannett & Granite Peaks. So...we wanted the highest & hopefully, safest high camp possible to shorten summit day. Thanks again to all who contributed!!
  9. Is there a higher camp site climbers left of the Hogsback which is sheltered from sulphur gases? Or is Triangle Moraine the highest and safest bet? Any helpful advice is appreciated!
