  1. I might still go over there camp at the trailhead tonight and try monitor ridge if its not total whiteout conditions. Im going to bring skins.
  2. I was there a couple weeks ago. Thats too bad, I wonder what happened to the climbers register, thats all I am worried about. Just kidding. To bad that landmark will be gone forever.
  3. I was at Raineir a month ago and the gate to Paradise was closed. I guess it closes at 4:30pm every day and doesnt open to cars until 8:30 the next morning. Can anyone confirm this? I would love to go up there and do some hiking but I cant get an early start if the gate is closed. Can I park overnight anywhere in paradise?
  4. I have been taking glucosamine/chondroitin/msm for 6 months now, along with a steady dosing of cod liver oil. The results are proven. Many studies have been shown that joint pain and swelling decrease, cartilge heals, and flexabilitly increases, as does range of motion. It took about 1 month to see results, but after that it was a night and day difference. I have noticed no side effects. My blood pressure / heart rate / vitals have not changed. I would recommend this suppliment to all.
  5. The best way to train your forarms is pure rock climbing, and crack climbing is good for wrist strength. Wrist curls are one of the most effective ways to build fore-arm strength and conditioning. I curl a 40lb barbell 15 times each hand, 5 sets. You need to get a good painful burn if you expect to build your forarms. They are a very hard muscle to train.
  6. Well I was going to go for Adams but after realizing I left my money at home, my only choice was St. Helens again. Weather was okay. It snowed 3-4 inches at the climbers bouvwak between 12-6am sunday morning. The hike went well, I did not have a problem with ice and there was only monderate winds as you get above treeline. Total white out conditions on the rim tho!
  7. Are you going up on Sunday? I have to work tomorrow. Its possible I would be up for that if you are still needing a partner. I want to do something this weekend, Rainier would be great. Let me know - best way to contact me is smithsil@gmail.com -silas
  8. I am thinking of going for adams this weekend (11/10). I would leave Saturday (tomorrow) after work and camp somewhere around 6-7000ft, then go for the summit on Sunday. Does anyone know what the current snow conditions are going to be like? I would really like to ski it rather than hike if the snow is in reasonable condition.
  9. I did monitor ridge last Sunday (11/4). I left the climbers bouvwak at 6:45am, good conditions, a bit windy and snow on about 50% of the trail. The summit was socked in when I topped out but it cleared around 11:30am and I got some sweet views of the surrounding peaks. Really a great day to be out hiking so late in the year. It is free but you still need to register at Jacks restaurant and pick up a permit there.
