  1. I just picked up a pair of matrix techs. They are nicely balanced and the pick looks and feels indestructible but I haven climbed on them yet. If you want any specific info let me know.
  2. http://www.mountainproject.com/v/for_sale__wanted/fs_trango_s_evo_gtx_/106621546 Check it out. Price dropped to $100.
  3. I visited the baths a couple times long before I started climbing. From what I remember it has TONS of potential. here are some links: http://thundafunda.com/2/traveling-pictures-tourism/download/The%20Baths,%20Virgin%20Gorda%20Island,%20British%20Virgin%20Islands,%20West%20Indies.jpg http://www.synrockholds.com/virgingorda1.html

    CCW pack FS

Thanks, dane. The measurement dane specified is indeed roughly 16 inches. Ill consider reasonable offers on the pack.

    CCW pack FS

Ill check if I can find any sizing labels on the pack. Im 6ft with a 19 inch torso and it fits fine.
  6. Up for sale is a ~40 liter CCH pack. The pack is similar to the ozone in construction but it has a little bit more volume, I would say around 40L. As I understand this particular model is only sold at Rock and snow in new paltz, ny. Excellent cragging pack. It is in great condition with no real wear, I just want something with ice axe loops. Bought it for 150, will sell for 110 + actual shipping. Paypal preferred.
  7. Up for sale are two new DMM shadow 12cm quickdraws. These have NEVER been used climbing and have absolutely no wear on them whatsoever. One comes with the product tag while the other does not. The dogbone is yellow with the rubber rope side biner retainer sewn in. Will sell both for $40 shipped.
  8. Up for sale is a virtually brand new Cilogear v2.5 45 liter pack. I realized a bit late that its a bit big. The pack is a size L. I only used it on 2 day hikes and I cannot find any signs of wear. I'm currently on the east coast so shipping out west will probably be around $10. I paid $170 and would be willing to let it go for 150 neg. A new 45 costs 180 so this is an opportunity to save some cash on a virtually new pack. Pics by request, email jeg272@cornell.edu paypal to jegsmith AT gmail DOT com Thanks, Jon
  9. Vapor barrier clothing is more effective than a vapor barrier bag. It establishes 100% humidity closer to the skin, which stops perspiration faster. The less you sweat, the less energy used in evaporative cooling, and the warmer you will be. Of course this is the entire idea behind vapor barriers, it just works better in vapor barrier clothing. One can also wear clothing over the vapor barrier liner, allowing maximum versatility. I do not sweat much so i find vapor barriers work great for me. however, comfort is largely subjective to the user.
  10. Using down in the winter is tricky. You must guard the down from both moisture coming from your body in the form of sweat and vapor from your breath as well as moisture from the environment around you. Using a vapor barrier bag will work, but vapor barrier clothing worn over only a light baselayer will be more effective. A bivy bag can be used to prevent outside moisture from affecting the down.
  11. I Have the ID jacket and it works quite well for backpacking. It does not seem too well cut for alpine climbing. Suge is right that its not too durable. It is also cut quite small. Im 6 ' and a large is just long enough in the arms and the torso that it fits. If I were looking for an alpine climbing jacket made from event i definitely would consider the RAB jackets, specifically the super dru.
  12. http://www.rbhdesigns.com/product/30/vapor-mitt.htm http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/00064.html The reviewer finds them to be more than warm enough in -27 F.
  13. http://www.gossamergear.com/cgi-bin/gossamergear/thinlight.html The pads are thin but offer really good insulation characteristics. I use it with a 3/4 length inflatable pad.
  14. What size person would this parka fit? Im 6' tall and 175 with a medium build. Im assuming that an XL would be way too large but am still curious.
