Anybody interested in doing Mt. Shuksan over Thanksgiving break. A friend and I are free from wednesday through sunday. We are looking at brining our skis, so we were looking at the North Face, or White Salmon glacier. Thanks for any interest.

We would be setting up a base camp, then doing either day trips out of it, or 3-4 day trips.

Hey everyone, I am looking to do an epic backcountry ski trip this winter, and i am wondering where the BEST snow in the US will be. I will be heading out the 2nd and 3rd week in december. I had heard some things about the Lost River Range, Sawtooths, and possibly some stuff up near Nelson BC. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Are you thinking about just staying on the road, or deviating off near N. Sister? I looked into getting to N. Sister but it turned out to be miles and miles of skinning, close to 10 or 12 just to the TH. A friend biked the road before it was open to cars in the spring and he said it was amazing!!!

Hey, I am also planning an attempt over Thanksgiving break. Any info about the White Salmon route? I will be expecting cravasses, but should i expect a lot of them, or hidden ones? And is there much of a trail from the road, or is it all bushwacking? I read most of the TR, but they were all from spring or summer, none really from late in the fall.

I plan on entering the park in West Glacier, and over the next week or two trekking down towards Essex. I might think about trying to get deep into the park, but i guess that depends on the snow. This would generally be a ski touring trip, but i will be bringing alpine skis/skins and possibly some climbing gear. Any info would be a great help.

I climbed South sister last weekend (22nd-23rd). Left Green lakes TH at 11am, got up to Morrane lake by 1230 or 1, and set up camp. As evning hit, it started getting quite windy and cold, by 8pm or so we were too cold to be socializing so we hit up the tents, durring the night it was quite windy, had one or two thoughts about having to abort the trip. Up at 440am to get the water boiling (the top inch or so had frozen), hit the trail at 6am, you half to walk around Morane lake (because the trail straight up the gorge, at the head of the lake is closed), we did not make it above the ridge for sunrise, but it would be very easy to do. There is a solid trail all the way up, no snow until the summit ice cap. The final push is quite loose, but other than that it is in great shape. Summited by 950, Back at the cars by 2.

I tend to do a lot of snow routes, and i want the potential to have warm feet in very cold weather. For the backpack i need to beable to haul a sleeping bag, tent, cooking stuff, and all that other good stuff.

Hey all, i am trying to find a great pair of mountaineering boots, and i am just wondering what people recomend, this type of website is much better than rei.com or backcountry for info. Also i am in the market for an alpine backpack. What do people recomend?? -Thanks
