  1. As a member of Bellingham Mountain Rescue, I'm working to help raise funds for a new rescue vehicle. AAI, a premier climbing school located in Bellingham, has partnered with us to offer this course at a discounted price. If you or anyone you know is interested in learning beginner Glacier skills and Crevasse Rescue (or brushing up on your skills), contact me. AAI typically charges $570 for this three day course. They are allowing us to sell it for $275. You get a great deal and we earn some money toward our new vehicle. Check out the course at this link: http://www.alpineinstitute.com/catalog/glacier-skills-and-crevasse-rescue/. You can e-mail me at bls@q.com if interested.
  2. Thanks to the generosity of AAI, Bellingham Mountain Rescue (BMRC)is offering two AAI courses at discounted prices. BMRC is raising money for a needed rescue van. American Alpine Institute has partnered with us by donating two mountaineering courses. The first course is “Alpine Mountaineering and Technical Leadership Part I” . This is a 12 day program with a value of $2190. Thanks to AAI’s generous donation we are able to offer this course for $1,290. That is $900 off the regular price. See link: AAI The second course: Alpinism I. This is a 6 day program with a value of $1190. We are offering this course at $690. http://www.alpineinstitute.com/catalog/alpinism-1-introduction-to-mountaineering/ If you are interested in finding out more, you can e-mail Bob at bls@q.com for more details.

  4. Thanks for the information. Regarding ice, I'm talking about neve such as on Liberty Ridge.
  5. Could someone tell me the difference in performance between the BD Serac and Sabertooth crampons? And secondly doe any of you have experience with BD aluminum crampons in climbing 50 to 55 degree slopes/ice. Do the aluminum crampons perform well on this type of climb or would your recommend the stainless steel? thank you for any information you can share.
  6. Has anyone done the NR of Baker in the last week or so? I'd like to get some beta on conditions.
  7. It wasn't us who skied past you. We were on foot. We summitted at 12:35 PM and then walked down. After a little golf on top however.
  8. The Coleman Headwall was fine. jordansahls is correct, this is a crevasse section not a crown. We crossed over it. The snow was surprisingly stable all the way up the Headwall. Didn't have anything sluffing off. We crested around Noon and the sun was not on the headwall yet, so not sure what it may have been like later in the day.
  9. Question for anyone out there. Is the campground just outside of the scenic drive pretty open in Mid-December if we come in on a Friday night?
  10. Is anyone heading up Baker toward the Coleman Deming Thursday or Friday and can return with a post Friday evening? I'm wondering if snowshoes are needed for this coming Saturday. Any Beta would be appreciated! Thanks!
  11. I went up on July 4th. There was only one snow patch in the Chimneys then; I'm sure it's all melted out by now. Not sure how Hell's Hwy will be, but should be a go. Bring ice screws in case you need to set protection on Winnie's Slide, etc.
  12. Hey Hendershot, anyway you can check with your budy and see what the conditions were like on Shuksan? Tomorrow, Tuesday, I'm heading up the Fisher Chimney route and wondering how much snow in that section as well as snow or rock on the pyramid. Any help on info would be great. Thanks!
  13. Hey, if you go, let me know the conditios. I'm thinking of heading up in a few weeks as well.
  14. Looking for route conditions on St Helens. Any avalanche concern? Do we need snowshoes? Can you set up a tent in the parking lot at the sno park or do you have to sleep in your car? Thanks for any help you can give.
  15. Can anyone tell me if you need a Sno Park permit to stay overnight in the Sno Park parking lot heading up the Worm Flow route? Also, plan on hiking St. Helens on the 28th of May. Is it at a point where one can go with boots or are snowshoes or skis needed? Any help would be appreciated.
