How far up the road could you drive?

Well, actually getting the sled to track well can be solved with some of the ideas on skipulk.com. I'm having real issues with building a suitable enclosure. I used irrigation tubing to build a frame for the raincover for a BOB stroller to sit on top of. Unfortunatly its not long enough and wind/snow can get in really easily. I need a way to seal the little one off better from the elements. Also, I'm using a crazy creek type chair. That dosn't work very well. Any other ideas? I am thinking of a sea kayaking type backrest and just closed cell foam on the floor of the sled.

Anyone have pictures of a homebuilt pulka to pull kids behind you when you ski? I have some plans from skipulk.com and have made a basic sled that works OK but has limited control on hills and I can't really figure out some good ways to rig a seat and an enclosure/windshield. Anyone have pics to share? Or...a professional one to sell (Kindershuttle etc)?

189 Fischer Boundless Crown Waxless Telemark/Touring Skis + Voile 3 Pin bindings with removable cables. I've skied these maybe 5 times. At 175lbs and 5'11 I am just a bit too light for this length of these skis. I'm going to drop down a size for the next set. The skis tour well and turn better than most touring skis. They rock in spring corn. Light & fast for long tours in the Mtns. Super light and fast with the waxless pattern base. I ski them with old T3s. New the skis are $335. These aren't this year's model though. These are about 2 season old. New the bindings are $80. $200 OBO.

2 Charlet Moser Atzar tools - 1 hammer and 1 Adze. Used only 3 times over the past 2 years. Pretty much in new condition except I tried to modify the leashes so you may want to replace those. The picks aren't even scratched. These things rock in steep alpine ice (N. Ridge of Baker, Liberty Ridge) and work well on vertical water ice. Can't say they'd be all that good at really gnarly mixed routes. $300 for the pair Alpinst Mag review 'em and loved 'em. http://www.alpinist.com/doc/web05-06/ms-charlet-moser-atzar I have a new project now - a 2 year old daughter - so I don't have enough time to climb ice these days... Grab these and go get some of that ice out there there now

I have a pair of Atzars (hammer and adze) that I've only used 2 times on a trip to Norway. I'll let 'em go for $320 (~$400 new). They're almost new looking. The tools and I are based in Seattle. I can show 'em on Sunday.

I have a pair of Atomic MX7s size 177 mounted with G3 Targa bindings. The skis have never been used - I mounted the tele bindings on an inpulse but stuck with my dynafits. The G3s have been used on a different pair of skis but have very little wear. Climbing bails included. I believe the bindings have the standard setup. Great for beginning Tele skiers. Here's an online review of the ski: http://www.atskis.com/html/rvw_atomic_mx7.html

Got a Marmot Alpinist size Large for sale for $50. 2-3ply Goretex. Good for A/T, Ice whatever. Totally waterproof and in good shape.
-
Got some large size BD Rigid switchblades for sale. Would be fine for WI this winter. Wouldn't recommend them for mountaineering use though. They'd fit some larger boots - like size 11 and up. $20 FIRM.

Cool. I guess I'll stick with the unpredictable WA areas or go for the full drive to Gib wall or into Montana/Alberta.
-
I was thinking of the panhandle area - or something within a decent weekend trip distance of seattle/western washington. Google is comming up blank.
-
I'm fairly new to the WA area and as I look at the forecast for this winter its not looking too good for getting the tools out. Given the ice in Montana/WY/Canadian Rockies - I've started wondering what the prospects for good ice in Idaho are. Anyone know of areas in Idaho with good WI-or areas to start looking in? It looks like it gets cold 'nuff out there for some stuff to form.

Thanks Mike. It looks sweet. We're gonna go for it Friday-Sat if the weather holds.

From the TRs it looks like a few people have been descending the DC route. What are the conditions like right now on it? Was thinking of going for the walk this weekend.

I spent 2 weeks climbing ice in Norway over this past christmas/new years. Its totally bad assed. We climbed first at Rjukan which is in Telemark - southern Norway. There are over 150 different climbs and most of them were in when we were there. The climbs vary from 1/2 pitch routes from WI2-WI7 and mixed routes as hard as you want to go. Then there are the multipitch monsters. The bad ass mo-fo of norwiegan ice is a climb called Lipton. Its WI7 and is just sick. There are some other bad assed classics also in the upper gorge area. Most of the approaches are totally reasonable and at that time of year there won't be much snow to mess with either. There is a guide and a web forum for Rjukan at rockfax.com. Its totally worth the coin to get the book. We then spent a while climbing/skiing in Hemesedal which is about 3 hrs north of Rjukan. The ice there is Ok. the approaches are longer and its more crowded. I'd recommend you go to Rjukan over Hemsedal. I was traveling with a group of swedes who had the place pretty much dialed. I can give you more info on where to stay etc if you want in either Hemsedal or Rjukan. Norway is expensive any way you cut it. Make sure that you bring all the gear with you that you'll need cuz its outragously expensive over there. Also - bring all the booze you'll need from the duty free shop on your way over. Booze prices are totally out of control in norway and with those cold, long nights you'll want a good stash! As far as going in mid november - if you go to Rjukan you might be OK. I think its really early season there but that place should always have something in. There are other places in the north to climb - by Tromso on the Lyngen Penninsula. I don't know much about 'em though. Romsdal might have some good ice also but its a costal climate so it might not be too reliable for early season. Damn, there is so much ice in Norway that you might just want to stop the car on the expressway on the way from the airport and start TRing the road cuts! I don't know anything about ice in iceland. None of my scandinavian climber connections have been there to climb.

The NE Buttress was in good shape Saturday...it must have melted out a lot by sunday. The skiing down past the lake totally blew. -
Hell yea! Way to get it done.

I'm new to the seattle area and am lookin' to hook up with a few other BC Skiers in the area. Got plenty of experience skiing big peaks in the sierras - not so much in the cascades, so I'm down to go just about anywhere for anything steep or even the not-so-steep but deep. I'm pretty much free every weekend. Got all the equipment also (4x4, A/T & Tele Gear, Beacon etc)..and some extras.
