  1. I've been told a group of climbers meets pretty regularly in Bellingham for pizza and beer. Anyone know how often this actually happens? I'm finishing up my degree this summer, but have weekends totally free and want to try to fill them up with some alpine trips. Anyone else in the same boat?
  2. I'd also like to get out a bunch this summer. No car, but I can provide gas money and good beer. I've only been on a few alpine trips--would love to get out and do to. This summer. Shoot me a PM.
  3. I'm was hoping to find an experienced climber/s who wouldn't mind going up to Baker one of these weekends (soon!) and teaching me some of the basics in terms of glacier traversing, crevasse rescue, ropes and knots, etc. I have Friday, Saturday, Sunday's off almost every week and am extremely eager to break into alpine climbing. Respond or PM me if you're interested and we can talk a bit more about details. PS Hell, I just want to get outside. I'm a college student up in Bham and am up for just about anything every weekend so let me know. Have car, will travel!
  4. I've been slowly trying to gather together a clothing system that works well for me outside - from typical hiking and backpacking to more technical mountaineering and ice climbing. Money is short, however, so I've been forced to limit my spending and instead only shop when I find a good deal here and there. That being said, REI is having a clearance sale and a couple items caught my eye. http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductD...;vcat=REI_HP_LD http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductD...;vcat=REI_HP_LD http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductD...;vcat=REI_HP_LD I really am not a gear guru in the least bit, so I figured I would post the links on CC and see what kind of comments I got on these items. How well would these items perform in Washington State weather, year round, in all sorts of outdoor situations? Any comments on materials or weight? Too heavy or light? Anything will help cuz like I said, I know nothing when it comes to clothing. Thanks all!
  5. lol ah you want to know about my name huh? It's just a joke...ever heard of the barbarian leader Atilla the Hun? It's just a play off that name. Nothin serious. Gonna take me climbin now?
  6. lol, clarify the point? All I meant was that I'm a confused college student, not sure what I'm doing in college yet, or in life in general and that the one thing I'm confident about is my love for nature and the outdoors. What about that post a couple days ago?
  7. Thanks for the info Magellan... ...and Stav, I'll send you a PM and we can work something out. I'm up for anything pretty much.
  8. Hey all, I'm brand new to the board so bare with me while I put out my own 'personal' I'm a 19 year old college student, confused about every aspect of my life except for my love for the outdoors. When it comes to mountaineering and ice climbing , I have the bare minimum in terms of real experience (as much as I hate to admit it) but I'm hoping this board will change that. I'm looking for a partner or partners to take me under their wing and show me the ropes. You don't have to be an expert or anything - hell we can even learn together. I'm even willing to play mule and haul gear in exchange for the oppurtunites and experiences of new adventures. As far as rock climbing, I have about a year's worth of gym experience as well as a small amount or real rock experience on sport routes. Basically, I'd like to meet some new people in the Bellingham area and get outside as often as I possibly can. Weekends are best for me. Just let me know if you're interested. E mails are okay too. Thanks muchos!
