runners knee in Fitness and Nutrition Forum Posted November 7, 2005 I had the same problem last spring... The doc said my problem was a weak hip relative to my thigh. You might try laying on your side, raising your leg and turning your foot out at the same time. That, and stretch like crazy. Seemed to work for me.
