Patagonia softshell jacket with hood - $100
thin_air_aaron replied to thin_air_aaron's topic in The Yard Sale
Sent you a PM -
Patagonia softshell jacket with seam sealed zippers that rivals most hardshells in its ability to shed water. Size M - I'm 6'0" 175 lbs and it's just a little too tight on me now which is the only reason I'm selling
-
Probably a large in most jackets but I'm right around a M/L range, just depends on the company/jacket
-
Looking to purchase a lightweight insulated jacket for climbing. Something similar to MH Compressor, NF Diez, etc. Shoot me a PM if you have anything similar you're looking to sell.

I'm selling a pair of Vasque Ice 9000 double boots, red/black (03/04 version), size 8.5 (that I would say is true to size) These boots are a little older but are still in solid shape. Another cascade climber member I purchased them from last year used for one trip on Denali and I only took them out once to try and hike in them before realizing they were too tight in the toe area for me (I’m normally a 9.5 in street shoe). Open to offers, buyer pays shipping. http://picasaweb.google.com/aaron.tiff/GearSale#5519934148912513058 http://picasaweb.google.com/aaron.tiff/GearSale#5519934151496813682 http://picasaweb.google.com/aaron.tiff/GearSale#5519934158368197074

Awesome, thanks everyone for the help.

Thanks for the advice. It looks like the cams I'm looking at are in fact the older version with the metal stub. Are the weight/angle issues significant or would they be alright to use as a beginner set until I get more experienced using cams?

I'm looking to buy a set of some lightly used BD Camalot C4's (0.5-3)and am trying to figure out how much has changed in the last 5-7 years in terms of their development. Has their been significant development in terms of extended range, weight reduction, reliability, etc. that a version from 5-7 years ago wouldn't have capitalized on? How much should any of these issues determine how much to offer? Thanks

Haha, no... just getting rid of some items that I don't see myself using much in the next few years. -

Addition... $100 - Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero parka w/ hood and RMI logo, size M, good condition. There are some white cosmetic markings on the back (shown in the pics) that don't affect the performance of the parka at all. Picked this up a few years ago at the Ashford Mountain Festival and has kept me in WA and on Aconcagua. Only reason I'm selling is because it's just a bit too snug for me. -
I'm offloading a bunch of gear so take a look at the list and the picasa weblink with pictures.... reasonable offers will be considered. Feel free to shoot any questions to aaron.tiff@gmail.com Pictures - http://picasaweb.google.com/aaron.tiff/GearSale# $200 – Grivel Alp Wing Ice Tools (both with hammer, Grivel Easy G Leashes, and Evolution picks in good shape) –very versatile and solid set that perform well in ice, mixed or alpine climbing $175- Wild Things Andinista pack (size S, yellow) - a few years old but still in great shape, retails new for $360 on backcountrygear.com $100 – Atlas 1025 Showshoe, LIKE NEW, orange with black– used once 2 years ago and has sat in my closet since, really in phenomenal condition, retails new for $160 on REI $100 - Vasque Ice 9000, red/black (older version), size 8.5 (that I would say is true to size), bought these used and went on one hike with them before realizing they were too tight in the toe area for me (I’m normally a 9.5 in street shoe) $40 – Metolius Finger Board, love using this to stay in shape during the winter but unfortunately I don’t have an place to mount it in my new apartment – similar models retail for $80 $30 – Voile metal shovel w/ D handle, BRAND NEW – black with yellow blade, solid 2-piece shovel that I’ve just never used $30 – Mountain Hardwear Project Daypack – great urban commuter pack with lots of storage pockets, color is a little more lime than the picture shows

Cleaning out my closet and getting rid of some excess gear. Prices are pretty firm but willing to entertain reasonable offers. Not sure how to post pics on here but I have pics of all gear available, just email aaron.tiff@gmail.com and I’ll send them to you. $250 – Grivel Alp Wing Ice Tools (both with hammer, Grivel Easy G Leashes, and Evolution picks in good shape) – great deal for a very versatile and solid set of alpine tools $225- Wild Things Andinista pack (size S, yellow) - original model that is tough to come by these days, a few years old but still in great shape, retails new for $360 on backcountrygear.com $225 – Black Diamond 42L Anarchist pack w/ internal Avalung, BRAND NEW (torso size measure 20 inches, black) - bought this a couple years ago but it hasn’t seen a single use has just been sitting in my closet (the Avalung mouthpiece even has the plastic still on it), retails for $279 from blackdiamondequipment.com $125 – Atlas 1025 Showshoe, , LIKE NEW, orange with black– used once 2 years ago and has sat in my closet since, really in phenomenal condition, retails new for $160 on REI.com $125 - Vasque Ice 9000, red/black (older version), size 8.5 (that I would say is true to size), bought these used and went on one hike with them before realizing they were too tight in the toe area for me (I’m normally a 9.5 in street shoe) $40 – Black Diamond Bod All-Around Harness (the one with padding), BRAND NEW w/ mesh carrying bag – purchased but ended up using a different harness that suited me better (if you purchase and aren’t fully convinced that it’s brand new and safe to use, send it back and I’ll refund your money), retails for $50 on moosejaw.com $30 – Voile metal shovel w/ D handle, BRAND NEW – black with yellow blade, solid 2-piece shovel that I’ve just never used $30 – Black Diamond Ascent trekking poles – DECENT SHAPE, pretty solid but one showed some give when I was hauling heavy loads up/down Aconcagua, never had any problems with lighter loads so should be fine for casual hiking $15 – “Select Climbs in the Cascades, Volume 1” by Jim Nelson and Peter Potterfield, good condition

Ya I have, point well taken. I'm more interested in getting weather reports if possible and as a very last resort in other cases. Just curious if anyone had experience using them in the area.
-
I posted on the international board but thought I'd try here as well. Does anyone has any experience with using a radio on Aconcagua for obtaining weather reports and/or as a backup for emergency rescue? I've read that VHF covers a large portion of the mountain to put you in contact with the rangers. Is this the best option? Are there places in Mendoza to rent a handheld radio?

Selling a pair of Vasque Ice 9000's (red version) I purchased from another CC.com member a couple of months ago that ended up being too tight for me. These are in great condition and the soles are hardly used and the rubber rand on the base is still sticky. The only use they've seen since I picked them up was a one day training hike and had the liners thermo-molded once (the previous owner had not thermo-molded them so you still have a few runs lefts). These are a size 8.5 which should fit someone with US size 8.5-9 feet. Just looking to get back what I put in them which was $125 + whatever shipping costs are since I'm in Boston currently. If you'd like to see pics, shoot me a PM or email to aaron dot tiff at gmail

Koflach Arctis Expe v. Denali Intuition
thin_air_aaron replied to thin_air_aaron's topic in The Gear Critic
Hey guys, thanks for the advice. Dane, what is YMMV? -
I got a good deal on some Koflach Arctis Expe and wondering if I should upgrade the liner to Denali Intuition for climbing the Polish Direct on Aconcagua. Anyone have any experience with these 2 options and if the Denali is significantly warmer/better?

Steri-Pen for water purifying in S. America?
thin_air_aaron replied to thin_air_aaron's topic in The Gear Critic
Thanks for the tip Farrgo, what was it about using it that was a pain? Also, do you think the possibility of clogging the filter due to the supposed silt content is something to be concerned about?
